Welcome to the Bangor Theological Seminary online catalog for 2011-2012!

Bangor Theological Seminary is an ecumenical seminary in the Congregational tradition of the United Church of Christ. With campuses in Bangor and Portland, Maine, the Seminary’s primary mission is preparation for Christian ministry.

Graduate programs include the Master of Divinity Master of Arts  and  Doctor of Ministry  degrees. BTS also offers Anglican Studies  in cooperation with the Episcopal Diocese of Maine. The Master of Science in Pastoral Counseling is offered by Husson University in cooperation with Bangor Theological Seminary.

There are many reasons Bangor Theological Seminary may be the best choice for you. Consider some of the following, and then take some time to explore the catalog.

  • Small class sizes mean you’ll receive personal attention from faculty and staff. Average class size is 15-18.
  • Over 12 different denominations are represented in the student body.
  • Students range in age from 22 to 75. Many take courses on a part–time basis.
  • The faculty share a passion for teaching and contributing to the practice of Christian ministry. All members of the full time faculty hold a doctoral degree in their fields.
  • Both the Bangor and Portland campuses are easily accessible from I-95 and are served by international airports.
  • Financial Aid  makes seminary study possible for many. A majority of students receive some form of financial aid.
